Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2C9.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear celecoxib. Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, which lab and early human research suggests can slow that same enzyme down. If celecoxib gets broken down more slowly, more of it can hang around in your blood, which could nudge up the usual NSAID side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, raised blood pressure, or, over time, kidney strain.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's theoretical, based on how these compounds behave, not on solid human studies pairing the two. Celecoxib is not a prodrug, so this would mean a stronger effect, not a weaker one. Before combining them, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can check your other meds and risks.

What Is Celecoxib Used For?

Brand names: Celebrex, Elyxyb

Celecoxib capsules and the generic oral suspension treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) in children 2 years and older. Celecoxib capsules also treat acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods) in adults.

ELYXYB (celecoxib oral liquid) is specifically approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults — but it is not used to prevent migraines. VYSCOXA (celecoxib oral suspension) is not indicated for acute pain or primary dysmenorrhea.
