Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: Gabapentin already tends to make people drowsy, dizzy, or a little foggy, especially when you first start it or raise the dose. Corydalis yanhusuo may have its own calming, sedative-like activity on the nervous system. Put the two together and those effects could stack, so you might feel sleepier, more lightheaded, or less steady on your feet than usual.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's a theoretical concern based mostly on lab and animal research, not strong human studies. Gabapentin isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about one changing how the other is broken down, it's just two things that can both relax the brain. Be careful with driving or anything where alertness matters, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Gabapentin page

“Gabapentin (Neurontin, Gralise) calms overactive nerves, which means it already slows your nervous system down, and that is exactly what 78 of the 106 supplements on this list also do.
