Here's the gist for Lesinurad (Zurampic). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 to help clear this medicine. Corydalis contains compounds (including berberine) that may slow that enzyme down. If that happens, Lesinurad could linger in your system a bit longer and reach higher levels than expected.

With Lesinurad, the main worry when levels climb is extra stress on the kidneys, since it works by pushing uric acid out through them. Watch for things like less urination, swelling, or back/side discomfort. That said, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and pharmacology data, not real patient reports, so it may never cause trouble. Still, run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Lesinurad Used For?

  • Lesinurad is used in combination with a xanthine oxidase inhibitor to treat hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid) in people with gout (sudden attacks of redness, swelling, pain, and heat in one or more joints) whose disease is not controlled with their current medication. Lesinurad is in a class of medications called selective uric acid reabsorption inhibitors. It works by helping the kidneys to remove uric acid from the body.
