Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. Preliminary clinical research shows that berberine can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might also inhibit CYP2C9.

Your Avandamet combines two diabetes medicines. The part that matters here is rosiglitazone, which your liver clears using an enzyme called CYP2C9. Corydalis may contain compounds that gently slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let rosiglitazone build up a bit, which might lower your blood sugar more than expected. Watch for signs like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or unusual swelling and weight gain. The metformin half isn't really processed this way, so it's less of a concern.

Keep in mind this is only a theoretical interaction based on lab science, not real cases, so it's likely mild for most people. Still, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before adding this herb.

Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine, a plant compound that on its own may nudge blood sugar down too. So the concern here is simple: stacking them could add up and push your sugar lower than intended, raising the chance of a hypoglycemic episode. With metformin and rosiglitazone, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, a fast heartbeat, or feeling confused.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical caution based on how these compounds behave, not on solid human studies with this exact combo. It's not a reason to panic. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding corydalis, and keep an eye on your glucose readings.

Theoretically, Corydalis yanhusuo might increase the therapeutic and adverse effects of metformin.
Corydalis yanhusuo contains berberine. In vitro and animal studies show that berberine can increase the systemic exposure and half-life of metformin, potentially increasing metformin's effects and side effects. This interaction seems to be most apparent when berberine is administered 2 hours prior to metformin. Taking berberine and metformin at the same time does not appear to increase systemic exposure to metformin. It is unclear if Corydalis yanhusuo might have this same effect.

Corydalis can contain berberine, and in lab and animal studies berberine seemed to slow how the body clears metformin, letting more of it build up. More metformin in your system can mean a stronger blood-sugar-lowering effect, plus more of metformin's usual gripes like nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, or a metallic taste.

Keep in mind this is only theoretical, based on pharmacology, not proven in people, and it isn't even clear Corydalis acts the same way berberine does. Still, because it touches your blood sugar, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them. Don't change your dose on your own.
