Here's the basic idea with Gamifant (emapalumab). This is a powerful injectable antibody that quiets down an overactive immune system to control primary HLH. Fermented wheat germ extract, on the other hand, has been studied for the opposite reason, and some animal data hint that it may actually rev up immune activity. So in theory the two could work against each other, with the supplement possibly blunting how well the medication keeps that dangerous inflammation in check.

I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not real cases in people. Given how serious HLH is, I wouldn't gamble on it. Please loop in your oncologist or specialist before adding any supplement so they can keep your treatment on track.

What Is Emapalumab-lzsg Injection Used For?

Brand name: Gamifant

Gamifant is used to treat primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) — a rare, life-threatening condition where the immune system becomes dangerously overactivated — in adults and children whose disease has not responded to, has come back during, or has progressed on standard HLH therapy, or who cannot tolerate it.

Gamifant is also used for HLH/macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in adults and children with known or suspected Still's disease, including systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA), when glucocorticoids (steroid medicines) have not worked well enough, cannot be tolerated, or when MAS keeps coming back.
