Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark.

Here's the thing to keep straight: in this pairing, it's your cancer medicine Kisqali (ribociclib) that affects the supplement, not the other way around. Ribociclib blocks an enzyme called CYP3A4, and fever bark contains yohimbine, which the body normally clears using that same enzyme. So if you took fever bark while on ribociclib, the yohimbine could pile up to higher levels than expected.

That matters because yohimbine can push up your blood pressure, speed up your heart, and cause anxiety, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping. This concern is theoretical, based on how the chemicals behave rather than real-world reports, but fever bark is potent and poorly studied to begin with. I'd skip it and check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.

What Is Ribociclib Used For?

Brand name: Kisqali

Kisqali (ribociclib) tablets are used in adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer (stage II or III, at high risk of coming back), Kisqali is given alongside an aromatase inhibitor as adjuvant treatment — meaning treatment after initial surgery to reduce the risk of the cancer returning.

For advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread), Kisqali is used in combination with either an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant — as the first hormonal treatment tried, or after the cancer has grown despite prior hormone therapy.
