Tamoxifen Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Fever Bark interacts with.

Theoretically, fever bark might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity. The effects of fever bark itself are unclear.

Here's a wrinkle worth knowing: tamoxifen is actually a prodrug. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert it into endoxifen, the form that does most of the real work against breast cancer. So anything that slows down CYP2D6 can leave you with less of that active form, not more.

Lab studies suggest one compound in fever bark (yohimbine) may block CYP2D6. If that happens in real life, it could weaken how well tamoxifen protects you, which matters a lot for a cancer medicine. Keep in mind this is only test-tube data, and we don't really know what fever bark does in people. Still, because the stakes are high here, I'd skip fever bark and check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.

What Is Tamoxifen Used For?

Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox

Tamoxifen is used to treat estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in both women and men, and as follow-up (adjuvant) therapy after surgery for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.

In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS — an early, non-invasive breast change) following surgery and radiation, tamoxifen lowers the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Both Tamoxifen Citrate tablets and Soltamox oral solution share these indications.
