Voxelotor falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Fever Bark interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark.
In vitro and clinical research shows that the fever bark constituent, yohimbine, is metabolized by CYP3A4 enzymes.

Here's the thing to know about this pairing: it's really fever bark that gets affected, not your Voxelotor. Voxelotor blocks the same liver enzyme (CYP3A4) that your body uses to break down yohimbine, one of the active alkaloids in fever bark. So if you took both, the yohimbine could build up and hit harder than expected.

What might that look like? Yohimbine can raise blood pressure and heart rate and cause anxiety, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how these chemicals behave, not something proven in real patients. Still, fever bark has potent alkaloids and little safety data, so I'd skip it and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything new with Voxelotor.

Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. Brand name: Oxbryta

Oxbryta (voxelotor) is approved to treat sickle cell disease (SCD) in adults and in children as young as 4 years old. It works by targeting the underlying problem in sickle cell disease — the abnormal hemoglobin that causes red blood cells to take on a rigid, sickle shape.

This approval was granted under the FDA's accelerated approval pathway, based on the drug's ability to raise hemoglobin levels. Continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory clinical trials showing broader clinical benefit.
