Here's the simple version: both GHB and pentobarbital push the brakes down hard on your central nervous system. Pentobarbital is a barbiturate, so it already slows breathing and deeply sedates you on its own. GHB does the very same thing through its own pathways. Stack them together and those effects don't just add up, they can pile on top of each other.

That means a real risk of heavy sedation, slowed or stopped breathing, dangerously low blood pressure, coma, and in the worst case death. This isn't a theoretical lab worry. Please don't combine these. If you've been prescribed pentobarbital, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before going anywhere near GHB.

Pentobarbital also falls under ANTICONVULSANTS.

Theoretically, GHB may reduce the effects of anticonvulsant medications.
GHB has been reported to cause seizures, and may theoretically reduce the effectiveness of anticonvulsants. Also, concomitant use of GHB with sedative anticonvulsants may increase the risk of serious CNS and respiratory depression.

Here's the thing to know about mixing GHB with pentobarbital (Nembutal): both are heavy-duty brain depressants. Pentobarbital is a barbiturate that quiets nerve activity, and GHB does much the same. Stack them together and those calming effects can pile up, leading to deep drowsiness, slurred speech, dangerously slow or shallow breathing, and even coma. That breathing risk is the part I worry about most.

There's also a flip side noted in the records: GHB has been linked to seizures, so in theory it could work against pentobarbital when it's being used to control seizures. That part is based mostly on anecdotal reports, so it's less certain. Either way, this is not a combination to experiment with. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything with pentobarbital.

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is a powerful central nervous system depressant that is NOT a safe dietary supplement. In the U.S. it is a controlled substance, and only a tightly regulated prescription form (sodium oxybate) is legal for narcolepsy. Non-prescription GHB can cause coma, breathing failure, and death, and it is also a known 'date-rape' drug — it should not be taken outside of medical supervision.
