Green Tea + Duvelisib
Duvelisib brand name: Copiktra.
Green Tea has a minor interaction with Duvelisib. Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Duvelisib
Duvelisib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Green Tea interacts with.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the quick version for anyone on Duvelisib (Copiktra) who enjoys green tea. Duvelisib is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube and animal studies, green tea seemed to nudge this enzyme in a couple of directions, slowing it in the gut while speeding it up in the liver. On paper that could change Duvelisib levels a little, but in actual human studies green tea doesn't appear to meaningfully affect CYP3A4.
So drinking green tea as a beverage is very unlikely to make Duvelisib stronger (more diarrhea, infections, or liver issues) or weaker. Concentrated green tea extract pills are more potent, so I'd run those by your oncology team or pharmacist first, since they already watch your liver closely.

Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Duvelisib page
“Duvelisib (Copiktra) treats certain blood cancers, and its supplement list deserves genuine care because the body clears it through a single enzyme, CYP3A4. Most of the 143 ingredients either block or speed up that enzyme, which can push duvelisib levels high enough to worsen side effects or low enough to weaken its grip on the cancer.”

About Green Tea
What is Green Tea?
- Antioxidant support
- Weight loss
- Heart health
- Mental alertness
- Cancer risk reduction
Green tea is a popular beverage rich in antioxidants called catechins, and drinking it in normal amounts is considered safe for most people. Concentrated green tea extracts are a different story—they may help modestly with weight or heart health for some, but high doses have been linked to rare liver problems. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking green tea supplements, especially if you have liver concerns or are pregnant.
About Duvelisib
What Is Duvelisib Used For?
Brand name: Copiktra
Copiktra (duvelisib) is used in adults with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) — meaning the cancer has returned or stopped responding to treatment — after at least two prior therapies.
Copiktra is also used for relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) after at least two prior systemic therapies. The follicular lymphoma approval is based on overall response rate and is considered an accelerated approval; continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials. Copiktra is not intended for use as a first- or second-line treatment for any of these cancers.
