Mirtazapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Green Tea interacts with.

Green tea is unlikely to produce clinically significant changes in the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro and in vivo research suggests that green tea can inhibit intestinal CYP3A and induce hepatic CYP3A4 enzymes. However, this effect is unlikely to be clinically significant, as green tea does not appear to affect CYP3A4 activity in humans.

Here's the short version: if you enjoy a cup or two of green tea while taking mirtazapine (Remeron), you really don't have much to worry about. Mirtazapine is partly processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and green tea has shown some mild tug-of-war on that enzyme in lab and animal studies. But in actual people, green tea doesn't seem to meaningfully change how this enzyme works.

Because mirtazapine is active on its own (it isn't a prodrug that needs switching on), there's no realistic concern that tea would suddenly ramp up its sleepiness, dizziness, or increased appetite, or weaken its effect. The evidence here is weak and theoretical. If you take concentrated green tea extract pills, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.

What Is Mirtazapine Used For?

Brand name: Remeron

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
