Why this applies to Rasagiline

Rasagiline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Indole-3-carbinol interacts with.

Theoretically, indole-3-carbinol might increase the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations.
Animal research shows that indole-3-carbinol induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist for rasagiline (Azilect). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear this medicine out of your body. Indole-3-carbinol, the compound from broccoli and cabbage that you can also buy as a supplement, may speed up that enzyme. If it does, your body could break rasagiline down faster, which means less of it sticks around to do its job.

In plain terms, that could mean your Parkinson's symptoms (tremor, stiffness, slow movement) aren't as well controlled. I want to be honest though: this is only suggested by lab and animal research, not proven in people, and eating normal amounts of veggies is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements are the real question. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding I3C, and don't change your rasagiline on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rasagiline page

“Rasagiline (Azilect) treats Parkinson's disease by blocking monoamine oxidase, the same enzyme that clears tyramine from aged and fermented foods. That shared pathway explains most of the 14 major-rated interactions on this page.”
