Fluorouracil (IV) falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Concurrent use of ipriflavone and immunosuppressant drugs might have additive effects on inhibiting immune function. Some patients taking ipriflavone experience subclinical lymphocytopenia; avoid concurrent use. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Ipriflavone has been shown in some people to quietly lower white blood cell counts (what we call lymphocytopenia), often without obvious symptoms. Fluorouracil (IV) already does a number on your bone marrow on its own, frequently dropping your white cells and raising your infection risk. Stacking the two together could push those counts down even further.

This isn't about one drug changing how the other is broken down. It's simply two things that can suppress your immune system adding up. With chemo, even a modest extra dip in white cells matters, so watch for fevers, sore throat, or signs of infection. Please loop in your oncology team before using ipriflavone, as they'd generally steer you away from it during treatment.
