Hydrochlorothiazide, Valsartan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ipriflavone interacts with.

Ipriflavone is thought to competitively inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9). Theoretically, concurrent use of ipriflavone and drugs metabolized by these enzymes might result in decreased drug elimination, increased serum levels, and potential toxicity. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 include amitriptyline (Elavil), diazepam (Valium), estradiol (Estrace), tacrine (Cognex), verapamil (Calan), warfarin (Coumadin), zileuton (Zyflo), and others.

Here's the gist with Diovan HCT (valsartan plus hydrochlorothiazide) and ipriflavone. Valsartan is handled by your liver in part through an enzyme called CYP2C9, and ipriflavone may gently block that enzyme. In theory, that could let a bit more valsartan build up in your blood, which might nudge your blood pressure lower than expected. You'd notice that as dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, or feeling unusually tired.

I want to keep this in perspective. This concern comes only from lab-dish and animal testing, not from real people, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, since blood pressure and fluid balance matter, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding ipriflavone. Please don't stop or change either one on your own.
