Erdafitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Jambolan interacts with.

There is some in vitro evidence that jambolan can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, concomitant use of jambolan with CYP2C9 substrates may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.

Here's the short version: Erdafitinib (Balversa) is partly cleared by an enzyme called CYP2C9, and lab studies hint that jambolan may slow that enzyme down. If that happened in the body, your erdafitinib levels could creep up, which could mean stronger side effects like dry mouth, mouth sores, changes in your nails or skin, diarrhea, or eye and vision problems that this drug is already watched closely for.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. Still, since erdafitinib is a serious cancer medicine, it's worth a quick chat with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding any concentrated jambolan supplement. Eating the fruit as food is much less of a concern.

Human evidence for these uses is limited and not strong, so it should not replace proven treatments like diabetes medication. About Erdafitinib

What Is Erdafitinib Used For?

Brand name: Balversa

Balversa (erdafitinib) is used to treat adults with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) — cancer of the bladder or urinary tract — that has spread and has not responded to, or has gotten worse after, at least one prior round of systemic treatment. Patients must have a specific type of FGFR3 genetic alteration in their tumor, confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting.

Balversa is not recommended for patients who are eligible for — but have not yet received — a PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitor (a type of immunotherapy). Those therapies should be tried first when appropriate.
