Amiodarone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Jequirity interacts with.

In vitro research shows that jequirity extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Theoretically, taking jequirity may inhibit the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

Let me be honest with you right up front: the bigger issue here is jequirity itself. Its seeds contain abrin, a toxin in the same family as ricin, and there's no safe or proven use for it as a supplement. Please don't take it at all.

As for the interaction on file, it's based only on lab (test tube) research suggesting jequirity may slow the CYP3A4 enzyme. Amiodarone is partly cleared by that enzyme and is an active drug (not a prodrug), so in theory blocking CYP3A4 could let amiodarone build up and raise the odds of side effects like a very slow heartbeat, dizziness, or thyroid and lung problems. This is theoretical and rated minor, but since amiodarone is a narrow-margin drug, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything with it.

What Is Amiodarone Used For?

Amiodarone is prescribed for adults with serious, life-threatening heart-rhythm problems that haven't responded to other medications. Specifically, it's used for two dangerous arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats): recurrent ventricular fibrillation (a chaotic, potentially fatal heart rhythm) and recurrent ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm that causes unstable blood pressure).

Because amiodarone comes with significant risks, doctors reserve it for situations where other options haven't worked or can't be tolerated. It is not a first-choice medication — it's a last-resort tool for serious, life-threatening conditions.
