First, the big-picture safety point: jequirity seeds aren't really a supplement at all. They contain abrin, a poison in the same family as ricin, so they shouldn't be swallowed in any amount. That matters far more than any drug interaction here.

As for the interaction itself, it's mostly theoretical. In lab dish studies, jequirity extract slowed down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps clear prednisolone. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let prednisolone linger a bit longer, nudging up effects like trouble sleeping, mood changes, higher blood sugar, fluid retention, or stomach upset. But this only comes from test-tube data, not from people, and it's rated minor and unlikely. The real takeaway is to avoid jequirity entirely and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
