Iloprost falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Jequirity interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that constituents of jequirity beans can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, jequirity might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing about iloprost (Ventavis): besides relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets a little less sticky. That's just part of how this kind of medicine works. Lab studies suggest jequirity beans can do the same thing, slowing down how platelets clump together to form clots.

Put the two together and, at least in theory, you could nudge up your bleeding risk. With iloprost that might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop. I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube research, not on real patients, so it's a theoretical concern. The bigger issue is that jequirity (abrin) is genuinely poisonous and shouldn't be taken at all. Please don't change anything on your own, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Jequirity (Abrus precatorius) is a tropical plant whose bright red, black-tipped seeds contain abrin, one of the most toxic plant proteins known. Despite a long history in traditional medicine, the seeds are dangerously poisonous and there is no reliable evidence that it is safe or effective. It should not be used as a supplement or medicine.

Aurlumyn (iloprost injection, given intravenously) is approved to treat severe frostbite in adults, specifically to reduce the risk of losing fingers or toes (digit amputations). Its effectiveness was established in young, healthy adults who experienced frostbite at high altitudes.
