Rabeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist for rabeprazole (Pariet): your body uses several liver enzymes to clear it, including one called CYP3A4. Lab and test-tube studies hint that passion flower might gently speed up that enzyme. In theory, that could move rabeprazole out of your system a little faster, which might make it slightly less effective at calming stomach acid. So you could notice a touch more heartburn or reflux if it mattered at all.

Honestly, though, this is a very weak, mostly theoretical concern. The effect seen in the lab was small, and there's no good human evidence it causes real trouble. Rabeprazole isn't a prodrug, so it doesn't get flipped the way some drugs do. If you take both regularly and your reflux seems to be creeping back, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
