Risperidone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6. Theoretically, schizonepeta might increase the effects and side effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), flecainide (Tambocor), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), ondansetron (Zofran), paroxetine (Paxil), risperidone (Risperdal), tramadol (Ultram), venlafaxine (Effexor), and others.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break down risperidone. Lab and animal research hints that a compound in Schizonepeta can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, risperidone could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which may bump up its usual effects and side effects, things like drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure when you stand, restlessness, or stiff muscles.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube and animal studies, not human data, so we don't really know if it matters in real life. Still, since risperidone is a medicine where balance counts, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for Risperidone. Your body partly clears this medicine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In animal studies, a compound in Schizonepeta seems to speed that enzyme up. If that holds true in people, your body could break down risperidone a little faster, which might make it less effective at controlling symptoms like agitation, mood swings, or disturbed thinking.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though: this is based only on lab and animal work, so it's mostly theoretical. Casual or short-term use likely matters little, but concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question mark. What Is Risperidone Used For?

Brand names: Risperdal, Perseris

Risperidone is prescribed for three main conditions: schizophrenia (a disorder affecting how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality), acute manic or mixed episodes in Bipolar I Disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder — including aggression, self-injury, temper tantrums, and rapid mood swings.

For bipolar mania, it can be used alone or alongside lithium or valproate. It is approved for use in both adults and certain age groups of children and adolescents, depending on the condition being treated.
