Rabeprazole Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with rabeprazole (Aciphex) and sulforaphane, the broccoli compound. Your liver uses several enzymes to clear rabeprazole, and one of them is called CYP3A4. In lab dishes and animal studies, sulforaphane appears to slow this enzyme down. In theory, that could let a little more rabeprazole linger in your body, nudging up its effects and side effects like headache, nausea, or stomach upset.

The key word is theoretical. This has not been seen in actual people, and rabeprazole is a pretty forgiving medication, so I wouldn't lose sleep over broccoli at dinner. If you're thinking about a concentrated sulforaphane capsule, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on things.

About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
