About Ertapenem Injection

What Is Ertapenem Injection Used For?

Brand name: Invanz

Ertapenem injection (brand name Invanz) is used to treat moderate to severe infections in adults and children 3 months and older, including complicated abdominal infections, complicated skin and skin structure infections (including diabetic foot infections without bone infection), community-acquired pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis (kidney infection), and acute pelvic infections such as postpartum uterine infection, septic abortion, and post-surgical gynecologic infections.

In adults only, Invanz is also used to prevent surgical site infection following elective colorectal surgery. It works only against infections caused by bacteria that are susceptible to it — it will not treat viral infections.
