Primidone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INDUCERS — the group Tansy Ragwort interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inducers might increase the risk of adverse effects from the pyrrolizidine alkaloid (PA) constituents in tansy ragwort.
Tansy ragwort contains PAs. PAs are substrates of CYP3A4. Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites.

First things first: I really wouldn't take tansy ragwort at all. It's a toxic plant, not a true supplement, and its pyrrolizidine alkaloids can seriously harm your liver on their own. There's no good evidence it treats anything safely.

Here's the wrinkle with Primidone. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to process these plant compounds, and primidone is known to speed that enzyme up. The worry is that revving up CYP3A4 could turn more of the tansy chemicals into the harmful forms that damage liver cells. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not human cases. Still, why risk it? Please skip the tansy ragwort and check with your pharmacist or doctor before trying any herbal product.

What Is Primidone Used For?

Brand name: Mysoline

Primidone tablets — sold as Mysoline or under the generic name primidone — are used to control seizures in people with epilepsy. Both Mysoline and primidone tablets are approved for grand mal (generalized tonic-clonic), psychomotor, and focal (partial) epileptic seizures.

Primidone can be used alone or alongside other anti-seizure medicines. It may also help control grand mal seizures that haven't responded well to other anticonvulsant treatments.
