Zanubrutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INDUCERS — the group Tansy Ragwort interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inducers might increase the risk of adverse effects from the pyrrolizidine alkaloid (PA) constituents in tansy ragwort.
Tansy ragwort contains PAs. PAs are substrates of CYP3A4. Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites.

Here's the simple version. Tansy ragwort is a toxic plant you really shouldn't be swallowing at all, so my honest advice is to skip it entirely while you're on Brukinsa (zanubrutinib). The plant carries pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which your liver can turn into harmful byproducts. Zanubrutinib can mildly speed up one liver enzyme (CYP3A4), and the theory is that this faster processing could create more of those toxic byproducts, raising the risk of liver damage.

I want to be clear: this concern comes only from lab and animal data, not from human cases, so it's theoretical. Still, the bigger issue is that tansy ragwort is dangerous on its own. Please don't take it, and check with your oncology team or pharmacist before trying any herbal product.

What Is Zanubrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Brukinsa

Brukinsa (zanubrutinib) is used to treat adults with several types of blood cancers. These include chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) after at least one prior treatment, relapsed or refractory marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) after at least one prior anti-CD20 treatment, and relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) — the last in combination with another medicine called obinutuzumab, after two or more prior treatments.

Some of these uses (MCL, MZL, and FL) have received accelerated FDA approval based on response rates, meaning they may be subject to further confirmation of long-term benefit in ongoing trials.
