Dronedarone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for dronedarone (Multaq): your body clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The berberine in tree turmeric appears to slow that enzyme down. If the enzyme works slower, dronedarone can build up in your blood and act stronger than intended.

With dronedarone, that could mean more of its known effects, like slow heartbeat, dizziness, low blood pressure, stomach upset, or changes in your heart's rhythm (QT prolongation). This is an antiarrhythmic where even modest level changes matter, so I'd take it seriously even though the evidence here is still partly theoretical. Please don't add tree turmeric to your routine without first checking with your pharmacist or cardiologist.

About Dronedarone

What Is Dronedarone Used For?

Brand name: Multaq

Multaq (dronedarone) tablets are used to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for atrial fibrillation (AF) — an irregular, often rapid heart rhythm. It is approved for adults who are currently in normal sinus rhythm but have a history of paroxysmal (comes and goes) or persistent atrial fibrillation.

Multaq is not appropriate for everyone with AF. It must not be used in people with permanent atrial fibrillation or in those with recently worsened heart failure requiring hospitalization — these patients face a doubled risk of death, stroke, and hospitalization if they take it.
