Here's the simple version: both turmeric and bortezomib (Velcade) can put stress on your liver. This isn't about turmeric changing how your body activates or clears the drug. It's more of an additive concern, where two things that each can occasionally bother the liver might add up. Bortezomib itself can sometimes affect liver function, so layering a concentrated turmeric supplement on top could, in theory, raise that risk a little.

Honestly, the evidence here is thin and mostly anecdotal, and the worry centers on high-dose, highly absorbable curcumin formulations, not the turmeric you sprinkle on dinner. Since you're already on cancer treatment with regular bloodwork, please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before taking any turmeric capsules.

Bortezomib is used to treat two types of cancer in adults: multiple myeloma (a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow) and mantle cell lymphoma (a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma). These indications are shared across the available products — Velcade, Boruzu, and generic bortezomib formulations.
