Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Umckaloabo interacts with.

Theoretically, Pelargonium sidoides might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Pelargonium sidoides contains coumarin, which may reduce platelet aggregation. However, in animal models, Pelargonium sidoides extract does not appear to inhibit coagulation or interact with warfarin. This interaction has not been documented in humans.

Here's the short version: ketoprofen is an NSAID, and like other pain relievers in its family, it can thin the blood a little and irritate the stomach lining. Umckaloabo (the South African geranium root) contains coumarin-type compounds, and on paper those might slightly lower how well platelets clump together. Stack the two and the theory is that bleeding risk could nudge upward.

The reassuring part: this is only a theoretical concern based on the plant's chemistry. In animal studies, the extract didn't actually thin the blood or mess with warfarin, and it has never been reported in people. Still, keep a casual eye out for things like easy bruising, a nosebleed that won't quit, dark stools, or stomach upset. If you take ketoprofen regularly or have a bleeding condition, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
