Rivaroxaban falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Umckaloabo interacts with.

Theoretically, Pelargonium sidoides might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Pelargonium sidoides contains coumarin, which may reduce platelet aggregation. However, in animal models, Pelargonium sidoides extract does not appear to inhibit coagulation or interact with warfarin. This interaction has not been documented in humans.

Here's the short version: rivaroxaban (Xarelto) already thins your blood to prevent clots, so anything that could nudge bleeding risk higher is worth a quick thought. Umckaloabo contains coumarin-type compounds, and in the test tube these may make platelets a little less sticky. On paper, stacking that on top of Xarelto could add up to a slightly higher chance of bleeding.

But the real-world evidence here is very thin. This is a theoretical concern only. Animal studies didn't show the extract actually interfering with clotting, and nothing has been reported in people. Still, since Xarelto is a serious blood thinner, watch for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement.

Umckaloabo is a root extract from a South African geranium that is most studied for short-term relief of acute bronchitis and other respiratory infections. Some clinical research suggests it may help symptoms resolve a bit faster, but the quality of evidence is mixed and it is not a cure. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a chronic illness.

About Rivaroxaban

What Is Rivaroxaban Used For?

Brand name: Xarelto

Rivaroxaban tablets are used to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm), treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT, a blood clot in a vein) and pulmonary embolism (PE, a blood clot in the lungs), and lower the chances of these clots coming back. They also help prevent clots after hip or knee replacement surgery, protect hospitalized patients at risk for clots, and — in combination with aspirin — reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Rivaroxaban tablets are also approved for treating VTE (venous thromboembolism, blood clots in veins) and preventing recurrence in pediatric patients from birth to under 18 years, and for preventing clots in children aged 2 and older with congenital heart disease after the Fontan procedure. Rivaroxaban for oral suspension (available as Rivaroxaban Granule and Xarelto oral suspension) is specifically indicated for these two pediatric uses.
