Here's the idea behind this pairing. When you take prednisone, one of its main jobs is often to calm down an overactive immune system, whether that's for arthritis, lupus, severe allergies, or a flare of an autoimmune condition. Umckaloabo (Pelargonium sidoides) seems to do the opposite in lab studies: it may gently rev up certain immune cells. On paper, those two effects could pull against each other and make your prednisone work a little less well.

I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not real-world reports of people having problems. So I wouldn't panic. If you're on prednisone for an ongoing condition, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement so they can weigh it for your situation.
