Why this applies to Aspirin, Omeprazole

Aspirin, Omeprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Yosprala, which pairs aspirin with omeprazole. Lab studies hint that vinpocetine may weakly block an enzyme called CYP2C9, which is one of the pathways that helps clear these medicines. If that enzyme slows down, levels of the drug could theoretically creep up a bit, meaning slightly stronger effects from each part. For the aspirin side that might mean more stomach irritation or a higher chance of bruising or bleeding, and for omeprazole it could mean a touch more of its acid-lowering action.

I want to keep this in perspective, though. This concern comes only from test-tube research, and it has never been shown to actually happen in people. So it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor, but it is not a reason to panic.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with Yosprala (which is aspirin plus omeprazole): the aspirin part already works by making your platelets less sticky so they don't clump into clots. Vinpocetine appears to do something similar. Research suggests it can thin the blood a bit, reducing how easily red blood cells and platelets group together. So you're essentially stacking two blood-thinning effects on top of each other.

Together, that may raise your chance of bleeding, things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach bleeding (look out for black, tarry stools). The evidence here is only moderate, but since you're already on aspirin for your heart or stroke risk, please don't add vinpocetine without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first.
