Why this applies to Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen

Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Theoretically, vinpocetine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that vinpocetine weakly inhibits CYP2C9. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Vicoprofen, which pairs hydrocodone (an opioid) with ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory). The ibuprofen part is partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In test-tube studies, vinpocetine seems to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, ibuprofen could linger a bit longer and slightly raise the odds of typical ibuprofen side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or kidney strain.

That said, this is theory only. It comes from lab work, not from actual patients, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The hydrocodone portion isn't really the concern here. Still, since vinpocetine has shaky evidence overall, run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's the part of Vicoprofen that matters most for this combination: the ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is an NSAID, and on its own it can thin the blood a bit and irritate the stomach lining. Vinpocetine appears to have its own mild blood-thinning, anti-platelet action (it makes blood cells less sticky). When you stack the two together, those effects can add up and nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.

In real life that might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, a stomach upset that lingers, or dark or bloody stools. The evidence here is moderate and the risk is only possible, not certain, but it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you take this pain reliever often.
