Pentoxifylline falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Vinpocetine interacts with.

Vinpocetine might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Clinical research shows that vinpocetine decreases red blood cell aggregation, as well as plasma and whole blood viscosity. This effect has been seen with intravenous vinpocetine 1 mg/kg and oral vinpocetine 30 mg daily. Vinpocetine also seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair: pentoxifylline (Trental) already works by thinning your blood and making it flow more easily through small vessels. Vinpocetine appears to do something similar, helping blood cells slide past each other and reducing how sticky your platelets are. When you stack two products that both nudge blood in the thinner direction, the effects can add up.

That means the realistic concern is easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. The research behind this is real but fairly limited, so it's a possible issue rather than a guaranteed one. Pentoxifylline isn't a prodrug, so this is about overlapping blood-thinning effects, not enzyme activation. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Pentoxifylline Used For?

Pentoxifylline Extended-Release Tablets are used to treat intermittent claudication — leg pain, cramping, or fatigue that happens during walking because narrowed arteries aren't delivering enough blood to the muscles. The underlying cause is chronic occlusive arterial disease, a condition where the arteries in the limbs become blocked or narrowed over time.

Pentoxifylline can help improve walking distance and reduce symptoms, but it is not a substitute for procedures that physically open or bypass blocked arteries when those treatments are needed.
