Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Wahoo interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of potassium-depleting diuretics with wahoo can increase the risk of cardiac glycoside toxicity due to potassium depletion. Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.

First things first: I really don't recommend wahoo at all. It's a poisonous plant with no proven benefit, and it carries heart-active compounds called cardenolides that behave a bit like digoxin. That's where the concern with your Uniretic comes in.

The hydrochlorothiazide part of your pill is a water pill that can flush potassium out of your body. When potassium runs low, those heart-active substances in wahoo can become more dangerous, raising the chance of an irregular or racing heartbeat, nausea, or feeling weak or dizzy. This is a theoretical concern based on how these substances work, not on hard studies, but the downside is serious enough that I'd avoid wahoo entirely. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using any herbal product alongside Uniretic.
