HelloPharmacist Scorecard of CoQ10 Rx by Taylor MD Formulations
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
CoQ10 Rx contains two active ingredients. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a compound your cells use to produce energy and protect themselves from damage — this product is designed for people whose bodies aren't making enough on their own.
The second ingredient is cinnamon, specifically cassia cinnamon, which comes from cinnamon bark. The softgel also contains inactive ingredients for absorption and stability: rice bran oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin, soy lecithin, natural caramel color, titanium dioxide, and purified water.
These are fillers and binders that hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Coenzyme Q10 has solid evidence behind it for replacing CoQ10 deficiency itself, and possibly effective evidence for fibromyalgia, migraine headache, heart failure, and nerve damage from diabetes. For cinnamon, the picture is less clear — the data we hold shows insufficient evidence to rate it for blood sugar control, cholesterol, inflammation, or other common uses.
If you're considering this product, you're likely interested in the CoQ10 part of the formula.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated by most adults at normal doses. The most common side effects are mild and digestive — appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting — happening in less than 1% of people.
Taking doses above 100 mg split throughout the day can help minimize these. Rarely, people have reported headache, dizziness, insomnia, or skin itching.
Cassia cinnamon in food amounts is safe, but high-dose supplement amounts are a concern during pregnancy because of coumarin content, which can harm the liver in large doses over time. Breastfeeding safety data for CoQ10 hasn't been well studied, so talk with your doctor before using this product if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check if you're on warfarin or other blood thinners (Moderate severity) — CoQ10 may weaken their effect. Next, diabetes medications and blood pressure drugs (both Moderate and Minor severity, respectively) — cinnamon may lower blood sugar, and CoQ10 may lower blood pressure, so your doses might need adjusting.
Finally, if you take any drug that stresses your liver, run it by us because high-dose cinnamon adds to that risk.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product makes sense if you're dealing with confirmed CoQ10 deficiency or exploring CoQ10 for heart health, migraines, or fibromyalgia. If you take warfarin, diabetes medication, or blood pressure drugs, check with us first — the interactions are real and manageable but need attention.

CoQ10 Rx by Taylor MD Formulations Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CoQ10 Rx by Taylor MD Formulations contains two active ingredients, and we do have documented interactions to discuss with your medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners: coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to vitamin K and may reduce how well warfarin (Coumadin) works. A small number of cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness linked to CoQ10 have been reported, so if you take warfarin, this product needs a conversation with us first.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The cinnamon in this formula adds two moderate-severity interaction categories. It may lower blood sugar, so if you're on diabetes medications, you'll want to monitor your levels closely and your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
There's also a theoretical concern that high-dose cinnamon could stress your liver if you're taking other drugs that affect liver function (hepatotoxic drugs).
Coenzyme Q10 can also lower blood pressure, which is a minor interaction — if you're already on blood pressure medication, there's a small chance your readings could go lower than expected, but it's less of a concern than the others.
Alone, coenzyme Q10 has no documented interactions. Altogether, these interactions span 623 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below to look up your exact prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs before you start.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 Rx with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Cinnamon
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
Coenzyme Q10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
