What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: polygonum cuspidatum extract, commonly called hu zhang. It's a traditional plant source of resveratrol, a polyphenol compound.
The capsule itself is a vegetable-based shell.
Does it work?
No specific claim
The evidence we hold on hu zhang doesn't establish that it works for any specific condition. The data lists insufficient reliable evidence for hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, wound healing, gout, osteoarthritis, and unstable angina — meaning studies either don't exist, are too small, or are conflicting.
If you're considering this supplement for a particular health reason, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports it.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Safety data on hu zhang in humans is limited. The plant's emodin content may cause digestive upset in some people.
The safety notes advise against use during pregnancy because there isn't enough data and some compounds may affect the uterus. Breastfeeding should also be avoided — the data isn't sufficient to know whether it's safe for your nursing infant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, any medication processed by your liver's CYP enzymes (a very common group), estrogen replacement therapy, or carbamazepine. These interactions are theoretical based on lab work, but a pharmacist can review your specific drugs and help you decide whether to take this.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula marketed for general wellness rather than one specific gradeable purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
This is a single-ingredient resveratrol supplement from hu zhang. If you take blood thinners, seizure medications, certain heart or psychiatric drugs, or hormone therapy, you'll want to check your specific medications with the tool below before starting it.

Trans-Resveratrol 250 Milligrams by NutraBio Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NutraBio's Trans-Resveratrol 250 mg contains polygonum cuspidatum extract (hu zhang), which carries Moderate-severity interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — resveratrol, a key compound in hu zhang, appears to have antiplatelet effects, so combining them could raise bleeding risk.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Hu zhang may also inhibit liver enzymes that break down certain medications. This means it could theoretically increase blood levels of drugs processed by CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, or CYP2E1 — a broad group that includes some heart medications, antidepressants, and others.
These are Moderate-severity concerns based on lab studies; human cases haven't been reported yet. Additionally, hu zhang may interfere with estrogen replacement therapy and could theoretically increase carbamazepine (an anti-seizure drug) levels.
Because these interactions are mostly theoretical — observed in the lab but not yet documented in people — the real-world risk is uncertain. That said, if you take blood thinners, any liver-metabolized medication, hormone therapy, or seizure medication, run your exact drugs through the checker on this page before you start.

For each ingredient in Trans-Resveratrol 250 Milligrams with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Trans-Resveratrol
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
