Clonazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist for clonazepam (Klonopin). Once your liver turns adrafinil into modafinil, that modafinil can gently nudge a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to work a little faster. Since clonazepam is partly broken down by that same enzyme, the concern is that your body might clear it a bit quicker than usual.

In plain terms, your clonazepam could end up working less well, so you might notice more anxiety, more breakthrough panic attacks, or, if you take it for seizures, less reliable seizure control. I'll be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs behave, not proven in real patients, and modafinil is only a weak enzyme booster. Still, before combining these, please run it by your doctor or pharmacist.

What Is Clonazepam Used For?

Brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon

Clonazepam is approved to treat several types of seizures — including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of epilepsy), akinetic seizures (sudden loss of muscle tone), myoclonic seizures (sudden muscle jerks), and absence seizures (brief lapses of awareness) in patients who haven't responded to other medicines.

It is also approved for panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that might cause panic). Panic disorder involves repeated, unexpected panic attacks along with ongoing worry about having more attacks.
