Fexofenadine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist for Allegra (fexofenadine). Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can mildly speed up a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Since fexofenadine is partly handled by that pathway, the theory is that your body might clear it a little faster, which could make it slightly less effective at calming your allergy symptoms (think runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, or hives creeping back).

I want to keep this in perspective though. This is a theoretical concern based on pharmacology, not strong real-world data, and modafinil is only a weak inducer. Fexofenadine is also moved by transporters, so the effect may be small. If you take both and notice your allergies aren't controlled like usual, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Fexofenadine Used For?

Brand name: Allegra

Fexofenadine temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and other upper respiratory allergies, including runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

Several products — including Allegra Hives 24hr tablets — are specifically used to reduce hives (urticaria) and relieve the itching that comes with them. Keep in mind that fexofenadine will not prevent hives or stop an allergic skin reaction from happening in the first place.
