Adrafinil in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
When used orally. Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been associated with reports of intrauterine growth restriction and spontaneous abortion. Also, animal studies show that developmental toxicity occurs with use of modafinil during pregnancy. Although modafinil, and possibly adrafinil, might have addictive potential, the potential for abuse is low. However, there have been anecdotal reports of withdrawal symptoms following use of adrafinil, alone or in combination with other products. Avoid using.

Some Mefloquine Products Have a Food Rule — Adrafinil Should Not Break It
At least one FDA label for a product containing Mefloquine says to take it on an empty stomach. Most supplements — Adrafinil included — are taken with a meal, so the easy mistake is swallowing both together at breakfast. Where that rule applies, keep Mefloquine on its own and move Adrafinil to a meal later in the day.
This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Mefloquine products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.
The drug should not be taken on an empty stomach and should be administered with at least 8 oz (240 mL) of water.

Adrafinil: dosing
There is no officially established or standardized supplement dose for adrafinil, and it is not approved as a dietary supplement by health authorities. Doses used historically as a prescription medicine were determined by doctors and are not the same as casual self-dosing.If a product is used, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed them. Because of the liver risk, it is generally not recommended for daily or long-term use, and periodic liver function testing may be wise.

What Is Mefloquine Used For?
Brand name: Lariam
Mefloquine Hydrochloride tablets are used to treat mild to moderate acute malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum (including strains resistant to chloroquine) and Plasmodium vivax. They are also used to prevent malaria infections, including chloroquine-resistant strains of P. falciparum, in people traveling to malaria-endemic areas.
Important note: mefloquine does not eliminate the liver stage of P. vivax, so patients treated for P. vivax malaria usually need an additional medication (such as primaquine) afterward to prevent relapse.
