Here's the simple version: Amitriptyline (Elavil) already has its own built-in anticholinergic activity. That's why it can leave you with a dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a faster heartbeat, and sometimes drowsiness or fuzzy thinking. Angel's Trumpet is loaded with the very same kind of compounds (scopolamine, atropine, hyoscyamine), so combining them is like stacking two of the same effect on top of each other.

When you add them together, those drying, heart-racing, mind-clouding effects can get noticeably stronger, and in older folks confusion or hallucinations are a real worry. On top of that, Angel's Trumpet is genuinely poisonous and has no safe dose, so please don't take it at all. If you have any questions about your amitriptyline, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
