Here's the simple version: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) already has built-in anticholinergic activity, which is why it dries you up and makes you drowsy. Angel's Trumpet contains scopolamine and atropine, which block that very same acetylcholine system even harder. Stack the two together and those effects pile up.

What that can look like with diphenhydramine: a very dry mouth, blurry vision, a racing heart, trouble urinating, constipation, plus confusion, agitation, or even hallucinations, especially in older folks. I'll be blunt though, the bigger issue is that Angel's Trumpet is genuinely poisonous and has no safe dose at all, so it shouldn't be taken regardless. This combination concern is based on how these chemicals work rather than formal studies. Please don't experiment, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

Diphenhydramine temporarily relieves symptoms of hay fever, other upper respiratory allergies, and the common cold — including runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

After Bite Xtra gel is formulated for topical use and is approved to temporarily relieve pain and itching from minor burns, minor cuts and scrapes, insect bites, minor skin irritations, and rashes from poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.
