Here's the simple version: Angel's Trumpet is loaded with tropane alkaloids like scopolamine and atropine, which strongly block acetylcholine and cause what we call anticholinergic effects. Protriptyline (Vivactil) already has its own anticholinergic side effects built in, since that's just how tricyclic antidepressants behave. Stack the two together and those effects can pile up.

What might that look like in real life? A very dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a racing heartbeat, plus confusion or even hallucinations. This concern is based on how these chemicals work rather than hard studies, but honestly, Angel's Trumpet is genuinely poisonous and isn't safe to take at all. Please don't combine them, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
