Here's the simple version: the codeine part of Copavin is an opioid, and opioids already make you feel drowsy and relaxed. Ashwagandha can have its own mild calming, sleepy effect. Put them together and those effects may stack up, so you could feel more sleepy, foggy, or dizzy than the codeine alone would cause. In larger amounts, opioids can slow breathing, so extra sedation isn't something to shrug off.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is a theoretical concern based on how ashwagandha seems to behave, not on strong studies. For many people it may not be noticeable. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't drive until you know how the pair affects you.
