Nitrendipine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.

Theoretically, ashwagandha might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Nitrendipine is a calcium channel blocker that lowers blood pressure, and your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down. The concern here is that ashwagandha may speed that enzyme up. If it does, your body could clear nitrendipine a little faster, which might make it slightly less effective at controlling your blood pressure.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from lab (test-tube) research, not from real people, and it's rated as a minor, possible interaction. So for most folks this likely won't cause a noticeable problem. Still, if you start ashwagandha, it's smart to keep an eye on your blood pressure readings and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before making any changes.
