Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP3A4 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence suggests that bacopa extract can moderately and competitively inhibit CYP3A4, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Your birth control pill, Ovulen, contains two hormones (ethynodiol diacetate and mestranol) that your body partly clears using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Bacopa might slow that enzyme down a little, and if it does, slightly more hormone could linger in your system. In theory that could mean a touch more of the usual estrogen-type side effects, like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or spotting.

Here's the honest part: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab studies, and the research even disagrees with itself. Some tests show mild blocking, others show no real-world effect. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since this is your contraception, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before starting bacopa.
