Theoretically, bacopa might increase the levels and adverse effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Research on the effects of bacopa extracts on CYP1A2 enzymes is conflicting. Some in vitro evidence shows that bacopa extract can moderately and non-competitively inhibit CYP1A2, while other in vitro evidence suggests that any effect is unlikely to be clinically significant.

Here's the gist for warfarin and bacopa. In lab studies, bacopa may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the pathways that helps clear warfarin from your body. If that enzyme runs slower, warfarin could build up a bit, which in theory means a stronger blood-thinning effect and a higher chance of bruising or bleeding.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical and based only on test-tube research, and even that evidence is mixed. Still, warfarin is a touchy drug where small shifts can matter, so I wouldn't add bacopa on your own. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, and if you do start it, your INR should be watched a little more closely.

Here's the gist for warfarin and bacopa. Warfarin is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP2C19, and lab studies hint that bacopa may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that were to happen in real life, warfarin could build up and act stronger than intended. With a blood thinner, that means a higher chance of bleeding problems, things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or blood in the urine or stool.

I want to be honest though: this is only test-tube evidence, and we don't know if it matters in actual patients. The bigger point is that warfarin is a finicky drug where small shifts can swing your INR. If you're thinking about bacopa, check with your doctor or pharmacist first so they can watch your INR closely.

Here's the short version: warfarin is cleared from your body in part by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab dish studies, bacopa might slow that enzyme down a little. If it does, warfarin could hang around longer and build up, which would push your blood toward being too thin. With a finicky drug like warfarin, even a small shift can matter, raising the risk of bruising, nosebleeds, or more serious bleeding.

That said, this is theoretical. The evidence comes only from test-tube work, and even those studies disagree. We don't have real-world cases proving it happens in people. I wouldn't panic, but since warfarin is monitored so closely, please tell your pharmacist or doctor before adding bacopa so they can watch your INR.

Bacopa is an Ayurvedic herb most often used for memory and thinking. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory when taken regularly for several weeks, but the evidence is limited and quality varies. What Is Warfarin Used For?

Brand name: Warfarin

Warfarin sodium tablets and Jantoven tablets are both used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in the veins) and pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). They are also used to prevent clot-related complications in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) or who have had a heart valve replaced.

In people who have had a heart attack, warfarin is used to reduce the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, or other clotting events. It does not dissolve an existing clot, but it helps prevent the clot from growing and stops new dangerous clots from forming.
