Esomeprazole, Naproxen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Baikal Skullcap interacts with.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 enzymes.
In vitro evidence suggest that wogonin, a constituent of Baikal skullcap, modestly inhibits the activity of CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Vimovo combines two medicines: esomeprazole (an acid-reducer) and naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). The esomeprazole half is cleared partly by a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. Baikal skullcap contains a compound, wogonin, that may gently slow this enzyme down. If that happened, your body could hold onto a bit more esomeprazole.

Here's the honest part: this is based only on lab dish studies, never shown in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Even if levels nudged up slightly, esomeprazole is well tolerated, so a big problem is unlikely. Still, since the herb's human safety is poorly studied, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining them.

Vimovo combines two medicines: esomeprazole (a stomach acid reducer) and naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). The concern here is that compounds in Baikal skullcap may slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which helps clear certain drugs. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let some of the drug build up a bit more, which might mean stronger effects or more side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, or, with naproxen, irritation of the stomach lining.

Here's the important part: this is based only on lab studies, not real people, so it's a weak, theoretical signal. Naproxen actually relies more on other enzymes, so the real-world impact is likely small. Still, if you take Vimovo, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this herb.

Theoretically, Baikal skullcap might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking capsules containing a combination of astragalus, goldthread, and Baikal skullcap daily for 4 weeks inhibits platelet aggregation; the effect seems to be similar to that of aspirin 50 mg daily. It is unclear if this effect is due to Baikal skullcap, other ingredients, or the combination.

Vimovo combines two medicines: naproxen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, plus esomeprazole, a stomach acid blocker that is added to help protect your gut. The thing to know here is that naproxen by itself can thin the blood a little and raise the risk of stomach bleeding and bruising.

Baikal skullcap may slow down how your platelets clump together, which could add to naproxen's effect and make bleeding a bit more likely. Honestly, this is mostly based on lab work and one small study using a herbal blend, so the evidence is weak and theoretical. Still, since naproxen already carries a bleeding risk, it's worth mentioning. Watch for black stools, easy bruising, or stomach pain, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
