Here's the thing to know about Mersyndol: it contains doxylamine, an antihistamine that already has anticholinergic activity of its own. Belladonna works the same way, blocking acetylcholine in the body. So if you stack them together, you're essentially doubling up on that effect. The worry is additive side effects like dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, fast heartbeat, confusion, and feeling overly drowsy or foggy. In older adults especially, this combination can tip into real confusion or even delirium.

This is a theoretical concern based on how both products behave, not from hard clinical studies, but it makes good pharmacological sense. The codeine portion can also pile on the drowsiness. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining these.
