Here's the key thing about Clomipramine (Anafranil): it already carries its own anticholinergic punch, which is part of why it can leave you with a dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, and a faster heartbeat. Belladonna brings the very same anticholinergic action to the table, so pairing the two basically stacks those effects on top of each other.

What that means in real life is the side effects you might already notice on Clomipramine could feel stronger, and in some folks that adds up to confusion, severe constipation, or overheating in hot weather. This is a theoretical, pharmacology-based concern rather than something heavily studied, but it makes sense biologically. Before combining them, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Clomipramine — sold as Anafranil and under the generic name Clomipramine Hydrochloride — is approved to treat obsessions and compulsions in people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This includes adults and children/adolescents ages 10 to 17.

To qualify for treatment, the obsessions or compulsions must cause significant distress, take up a lot of time, or noticeably interfere with work, school, or social life.
