Here's the thing to know: both belladonna and trospium work in the same direction. Trospium calms an overactive bladder by blocking acetylcholine, and belladonna's alkaloids (like atropine and scopolamine) do the very same thing. So stacking them doesn't create a new problem, it just piles on more of the same effect.

When you double up on these anticholinergic actions, you can expect more of trospium's usual side effects, things like a very dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, trouble emptying your bladder, a racing heart, or feeling confused or overheated. This is based on how the two work in theory rather than firm studies, but the overlap is real. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, since belladonna itself can be quite toxic.

What Is Trospium Used For?

Brand names: Sanctura, Trosec, Regurin

Trospium — available as tablets and extended-release capsules — is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB). It targets three main symptoms: the sudden, hard-to-control urge to urinate (urgency), leaking urine when that urge hits (urge urinary incontinence), and needing to urinate much more often than usual (urinary frequency).
