Here's the simple version: mesoridazine (Serentil) already carries its own mild anticholinergic activity, meaning it can dry you out and slow certain body functions. Belladonna does the very same thing through its alkaloids like atropine and scopolamine. When you stack two things that both block acetylcholine, those effects can pile up.

In real terms, that could mean a noticeably dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble emptying your bladder, a faster heartbeat, confusion, or overheating in hot weather. Older adults are especially sensitive. This warning is based on how these drugs work rather than hard studies, so it's a reasonable caution, not a guarantee. Belladonna is genuinely toxic and unpredictable, so please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
